The UT System Office of Emergency Management’s primary function is to provide planning, training and emergency preparedness and implementation for the system employees of the University of Tennessee. Coordination includes ensuring proper integration of local, state and federal efforts.

The UT System Office of Emergency Management is represented in the following entities:

  • Primary emergency services coordinator to the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA)
  • Board member of the Emergency Mangers Association of Tennessee (EMAT)
  • Member of the Collegiate Advisory Board for the National Center for Sports Safety and Security (NCS4)
  • Member of the International Emergency Managers Association (IAEM)

 

The office is also responsible for providing support, coordination and guidance to all UT entities across the state of Tennessee, which includes all campuses and institutes. The office oversees and coordinates all emergency planning and management operations for the University, to include University-wide emergency preparedness programs and initiatives. Represents the University to the national, state and local emergency management community and provides community education in emergency management principles and procedures.
